HC6
Four-Circle Powder Diffractometer TEXDIFF

The setup of TEXDIFF is a conventional two-circle (w,q circles) neutron powder diffractometer equipped with a HUBER Eulerian cradle (f, y circles) for texture studies by measurement of diffraction pole figures. In order to include the possibility of such experiments with geological specimens causing a large cross-section secondary beam, a large Eulerian cradle (Æ 400 mm, gap 127 mm) was chosen. The divergence of the primary neutron beam is d@1°, obtained by the installation of three collimators (Æ 60 mm) into the closing system of HC-6. In order to have a good luminosity in the texture measurements, a collimator with the aperture D(2Q)=0.5°, placed in front of the neutron detector, is used. Sample positioning, operation and registration of the detector signal are controlled by a PC computer.

Applications:

  • conventional powder diffractometry
  • texture analysis (including geological specimens)
